Huntingtower Castle

Located just west of Perth is Huntingtower Castle, a medieval pile. Although the castle is originaly medieval, it has been significantly redeveloped throughout the majoprity of it’s history. The Ruthven family were the owners of the castle and lands from the twelth to seventeenth century. During this time the castle consisted of 2 separate towers, constructed three meters apart. When the Murray family took occupancy, later on in the 17th century, they decided to amalgamate the two towers, making the house appear more like a regular country mansion. The bridging work between the two towers is still rather visible today, both on the exterior and interior.

Family Holidays In The New Forest – Moors Valley Country Park

Moors Valley Country Park is well worth a visit during your trip to the New Forest.The park is free to get in but you do have to pay to park your car. This is a maximum of £8.00 but is well worth it when you consider that a whole day can easily be spent here. Other attractions in the park also carry a further cost.

Even as you leave your car, you can’t even begin to take in the sheer size of Moors Valley, it really is beautiful. At the bottom of the car park you will find the 18th century barn which incorporates the Visitors Centre. The Centre includes as well as information, a restaurant, a gift shop and lavatories.

Close by to the 18th century visitors centre you will find a large play area for small and bigger children. Its spacious and very safe. Parents can help and watch their children from a safe distance and rest a while, while the children burn off their excess energy.

The station to the steam railway is located just behind the Visitors Centre. The steam train journey begins and ends here. The railway ranks up as one of the best steam railways in the country. The play trail is marvellous for the children to get around the park having loads of fun on the wooden play features. This is an adventure and a half! Half way round is a tree top (not Go Ape) trail about 5 metres above the ground which all of the family can enjoy and then more wooden play equipment for the remainder of the trail.

The first time Ingolstadt was discussed in an official document was in the year 806 by Carl the Great and it became its city rights in 1250.
